ASTON, PA – The Colonial States Athletic Conference officially released the preseason cross country coaches’ polls this week, with the men projected to finish sixth overall and the women predicted to end eighth.
While the women have been unable to field a full team during each of the past two seasons, the men have faired respectably well during their initial two years within the CSAC, placing sixth at the conference championship during their last two campaigns. However, both teams face the prospect of competing on limited numbers throughout the upcoming year with only five runners officially signed on with the men’s team to-date and four on the women’s squad.
Gwynedd-Mercy College is the overwhelming favorite to collect their third straight men’s conference title, picking up 98 total points including 9 of 10 first place votes. In women’s action, Marywood University and Gwynedd-Mercy each received a total of 115 points for a first place deadlock in the pre-season poll. The Griffins were dealt six first place votes while the Pacers notched five.
Both PBU cross country teams will kick off the upcoming season on Saturday, September 4th by taking a trip to the Griffin's home turf, running in the Gwynedd-Mercy College Invitational in Fort Washington, PA. Race time is 11:00 am.
