ASTON, PA - The Colonial States Athletic Conference women's tennis poll was released this week with the coaches picking the Crimson Eagles to place tenth in the league.
After winning three games a year ago which included the program's first every victory within the CSAC, the Crimson Eagles will attempt to build upon last season's 3-11-1 overall record. The group will undoubtedly benefit from the return of four of their top six singles players, including the one-two punch of Katelyn Wilson and Liz Stafford, PBU's top two athletes a year ago.
Two-time defending CSAC Champion Gwynedd-Mercy College is favored to make it a three-peat as the Griffins were picked to once again finish first amongst the league's coaches, finishing with 111 points and seven first place tallies. Neumann University, last year's conference runner-up, earned second place with 99 points, including one first place check.
The Crimson Eagles finished 10th overall by collecting 38 combined points, finishing a single spot ahead of Baptist Bible College in the tally. PBU sits just six points below the seventh place finisher, Immaculata University, who complied 44 points during the voting.
The team opens up their regular season slate on Wednesday, September 1st, hosting Baptist Bible College at 3:00 pm. The contest will be considered a non-conference duel.
