ASTON, PA – Five Crimson Eagle softball players were tabbed to the Colonial States Athletic Conference All-Conference teams as announced by the league earlier this week.
Caroline DeHart (Barnstead, NH) picked up CSAC Second Team Honors following a campaign in which the third-year centerfielder placed amongst the conference leaders in several statistical categories. With a remarkable .414 batting average, DeHart sat within the top 15 hitters in the conference while accumulating 27 steals on the year – good enough for second overall. In addition to holding the team’s top batting average and steal marks, PBU’s leadoff speedster also led the Crimson Eagles in slugging percentage and on-base percentage while accumulating a .964 fielding mark defensively.
Kim Martin (Litiz, PA) joined DeHart on the Second Team after serving in a dual role for the Crimson Eagles. In addition to hitting at a .386 clip for the year, Martin also was one of PBU’s top hurlers as the second-year pitcher led the team in total innings tossed while amassing a team high 25 strikeouts from the mound. A third baseman during her off days, Martin ended the season second on the squad defensively in fielding percentage after posting a .967 mark with just four errors through the year.
Sara Poole (Edison, NJ) was tabbed to the CSAC Honorable Mention squad for the first time in her two-year career on the heels of a season in which Poole put up a solid resume that included a .386 batting average – a number good enough to sit her second overall on the team. Her .504 slugging percentage and 16 steals were also good enough to position her second on the squad. In addition to 23 RBI’s for the season, the sophomore shortstop finished as the only Crimson Eagle to reach double figures in total doubles for the year, tallying 13 for the season.
Jackie Morrow (Carneys Point, NJ) picked up picked up Honorable Mention status after hitting at a .304 clip for the year while tallying a team leading mark of 31 runs batted in. Morrow led the squad in triples on the year with three while showing patience at the plate, registering 10 walks. A catcher defensively for the Crimson Eagle, she paced the team with 231 putouts on the season.
Molly Wilson (Bryn Mawr, PA) also garnered Honorable Mention recognition following a year in which the rookie outfielder posted a .317 batting average with 17 ribbies. Wilson finished second on the team with 14 walks during her freshman campaign while putting up the second most putouts of any Crimson Eagle with 102. An extremely versatile player, Wilson also proved solid defensively, posting a.940 fielding percentage.
In addition to Wilson’s Honorable Mention nomination, the freshman outfielder was named a CSAC Sportsmanship Award recipient along with the baseball team's Jayson Hernandez. Chosen by the league’s coaches, the award is given to student-athletes that demonstrate positive sportsmanship characteristics throughout the season, which includes a commitment to civility, respect, honesty, dignity, courtesy, fairness, and integrity.
