LANGHORNE, PA – For the third time in as many years, Justin Brubaker (Telford, PA) has been honored alongside the nation’s best.
Following an absolutely dominant junior campaign, the six-foot-four outside hitter was honored by being tabbed to the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) First Team All-American squad. The award marks the third straight year Brubaker has been selected as one of the country’s top players, with the last two garnering First Team recognition.
Brubaker proved to be a one man tornado at the net as the native of Telford, PA placed tops across the country in kills for the second consecutive season. In fact, his final tally of 5.98 kills per set put Brubaker over one full kill per game ahead of the second place finisher nationally.
Brubaker shattered the PBU record for kills during a single match, erupting for an unheralded count of 42 spikes during a tilt with Hope International University in mid-March. He put up 30 or more smashes on four different occasions and drove home 20 or more kills 16 different times.
Much more than just kill factory, Brubaker also placed nationally in aces per game (0.52; 13th), digs per game (2.94; 15th), and overall hitting percentage (.298: 28th). He finished the season with 17 double-doubles while helping lead PBU to their highest ever national ranking (4th). The junior hitter also guided the team to their first ever appearance in a NECVA Championship match.
