LANGHORNE, PA - With their spring season officially winding down, the men's volleyball team is busy prepping for what seems to be an always drama-filled NECVA Championship Tournament, which is scheduled to be played out in Cape Cod this year on April 9-11.
Riding on the heels of their second Western Division title in three years, the Crimson Eagles will enter the postseason tagged as the fourth-ranked team across the nation in NCAA III volleyball, signaling the group's highest marking ever.
Having been voted in the top 15 all 11 weeks of the season thus far, the Crimson Eagles currently boast a streak that includes 33 consecutive weeks on the top 15 charts, a stretch that covers two and a half success-filled years.
But for all of the group's accolades and accomplishments in recent memory, the group has never cracked top-five status amongst the nation's elite.
That is, until now.
The Crimson Eagles will ride into the NECVA postseason as one of the favorites - if not THE favorite - to capture the program's first championship crown. Having never advanced past the second round, PBU will carry a heavy burden into the tournament, looking to shake a recent trend of early exits.
Standing in the way, however, are several legitimate powerhouses. Perhaps no giant seems more daunting than Baruch College - ranked a single spot behind PBU nationally in the fifth slot - as the Bearcats roared past the Crimson Eagles, 3-0, during a mid-season bout back in late February.
Other serious threats include Vassar College, Rivier College, Medialle College, Endicott College, Ramapo College, Emmanuel College, and Stevens IT who all proudly flaunt a top-15 national ranking as well.
