ASTON, PA – Following last year’s third place finish at the CSAC championship, the Crimson Eagles are picked to finish fourth during the current campaign, at least according to the league’s head coaches.
The rise of PBU's men’s golf program has been slowly brewing over the past couple of years, made evident by the group’s record-breaking 330 team average throughout the 2009 season. However, the loss of senior Jared Wilcox will be a difficult hurdle to overcome for the Crimson Eagles as Wilcox’s steady career average of 82.1 will be thoroughly missed.
“The potential is there. It’s a matter of getting everyone on the same page when it counts,” said first-year head coach Bill Marshall. “Consistency is a big thing for us right now. If we can get our guys playing steady golf, we have a chance to be pretty good, even though the loss of Wilcox will hurt.”
Boasting back-to-back conference titles, Cabrini College was once again selected as the pre-season favorite heading into the upcoming season. The Cavaliers received five out of seven first places votes, earning the squad a total tally of 47 points.
“We are honored to be selected the CSAC preseason favorite and are looking forward to the 2010 season," said 11th year head coach, Dr. Troy Verde.
Keystone College, last year’s conference runner-up, finished second in the voting with 42 points. Neumann University was selected to finish third, earning 32 points. Philadelphia Biblical University (27), Immaculata University (25), Centenary College (15) and Baptist Bible College (8) rounded out the voting.
