Aston, PA – Gwynedd-Mercy College’s Women’s Basketball team was selected as the pre-season favorite in the Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) coaches’ poll. The 2008-09 conference runner-up received five (5) of the twelve possible first place votes and earned 135 points in the poll.
“We are honored to be chosen the pre-season favorite but we know we will definitely have our hands full with the teams in the conference as the level of play will test us game-by-game,” said Gwynedd-Mercy Head coach Keith Mondillo. “We’re looking forward to the challenge and to an exciting season.”
Neumann University edged the 2008-09 CSAC champion Cabrini College to finish second overall in the poll and second in the South with 126 points. The Cavaliers earned 121 points with three first place votes.
Immaculata University (91), College of Notre Dame (34) and Rosemont College (24) rounded out the voting in the CSAC South.
Centenary College finished first in the Northern Division, earning 100 points in the poll. Marywood University was selected as the runner-up with 93 points, followed by Cedar Crest (84), Keystone College (54), Baptist Bible College (50) and Philadelphia Biblical University (24).
